The Choice Between Life and Death

The Choice Between Life and Death

By 14 November 2022Blog

‘Don’t give up ‘cause I believe there is a place where we belong.

Rest your head, it’s going to be alright, please don’t give up.’  (From the song Don’t Give Up by Peter Gabriel)

Death follows birth like a shadow. Mary was crying when Jesus was being crucified. At that time Jesus said, ‘Mother, why are you crying? Death is the dress of life.’ Indeed, life does not end at death, it just discards its clothes (the body) for new clothes.

‘Life is constant suffering’, Buddha said.

Why should we endure suffering if death is an option? If death is just a changing of clothes, this body to a new one, does the suffering continue?

The mind is the cause of all suffering, and the mind does not cease after death; it can only transcend or be transformed.
The goal of each soul is to self-realise.

I Wished My Own Death to Escape Suffering

Be careful what you wish for, as every prayer spoken from the heart is answered. Death came whilst I was reciting prayers for my life to stop due to immense suffering. Looking from above at my body, my head fell backward, and my hands dropped. An unmeasurably large, unbreakable iron door decorated with ancient patterns appeared vividly in front of me.

Greeted by many loving beings and great teachers, I felt at home. They explained that I had a choice to die but reminded me that life was a gift from God and that a human life is extremely difficult to obtain. I was told that it was essential to face three lessons before making my decision.

First Lesson

The first lesson was presented in the form of a question, ‘what would be your reason to live?’.

I immediately thought of my mother and answered that my death would cause her pain. The response was, ‘see about your mother’, and in this moment a vision of the Earth appeared; bright blue, beautiful but very small as if the size of a one-pound coin.

In another moment my soul instantly travelled to my mother. As I stood beside her, a vision of her future flashed before me. I learned that attachment to a loved one was not a reason to live. Instantly returning, I reconfirmed my choice of death.

Second Lesson

For the second lesson, I was taken to another dimension and left alone. The suffering I was wishing to escape from returned, however it was sharper and much more pronounced. It was exactly my mind’s state as it would be at the last moments of my life. It is said that your last moments determine your future experiences in the afterlife and consequent rebirth. The immense suffering was not only the result of unresolved, painful experiences of present and past lives but the separation from the Self, the Supreme Consciousness, the Divinity. There was no escape from it – the only way to change the state of mind was by transforming or transcending whilst being alive!

In spirituality, experience is the method of gaining wisdom. Life provides experiences of pain and pleasure which are just two sides of the same coin. The remedy is to purify oneself from ego and dissolve the separation from the Self. Due to this separation, the mind creates misery, disorders, diseases, poverty and all the pain we experience. Until it is polished, purified and transformed, the mind determines our destiny. However, it is only through suffering that we can be persuaded to turn inwards and make the necessary changes to escape misery.

Third Lesson

In another dimension, a breath-taking, effulgent, multifaceted Diamond appeared before me, splendidly glowing, with complex, angular cuts and radiating sublime light of incomparable beauty.

Bewildered, I asked, ‘What is this?’

To my surprise and confusion, I was informed, ‘It is You’.

In denial, I said, ‘But it’s perfect! It has no blemishes, no marks, nothing to purify to transform or transcend!’

Then the Diamond was turned around and on one side a stone-like course layer was revealed. I understood this is where my impurities were.

Suffering in life is a purifying medicine necessary to reveal our True Self, the Divine Diamond.

A human being is not solely a body, but a combination of body, mind and spirit. Just as polishing the rough edges of a diamond reveal nature’s perfect beauty, the same is true of humans. Trials and tests are stepping-stones to success for good people – no great person has ever achieved importance without overcoming abuse, calumny, trials and tribulations.

Gold acquires greater brilliance by being heated in the crucible. Likewise, a diamond becomes more brilliant when it is cut to produce more facets. A diamond in rock form, has little worth – it is only when it is cut and polished that it becomes valuable.

We suffer for being polished of our impurities and sins by evolving through life. We undergo the process of refinement in life so that our human values are manifested, promoting peace and happiness to all. Suffering in life is a purifying medicine necessary to reveal our true nature, the Divine Dimond. When the mind and heart are purified, the Self is realised. Only then does the mind cease to exist and our endless suffering with it.

I confirmed that I chose to live and face life with all it has to offer. Warned about forthcoming challenges but also the rewards of helping many people, I eagerly returned to life.

Heal, Purify and Transform Your Mind with S.C. Holistic Therapy

Just like spirituality, S.C. Holistic Therapy calls for the removal of our bestial qualities and the assimilation of divine virtues instead. The process of refinement or purifying of the soul is called spirituality. Self-purification calls for the elimination of the limiting, animal or evil qualities in a human and the cultivation of virtuous ones instead. Only polluted minds create disease, disorders and misfortune. A peaceful mind forms a peaceful life.

Life is a great challenge that we must overcome. Life is an opportunity to make your future better. Evolve the virtues of love, kindness, forbearance, compassion and sacrifice – the natural human qualities. Share your goodness with others and experience the joy that results from such sharing.
